Dragon Boat Festival – Vancouver Lifestyle Photographer

This past weekend was the 21st Annual Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival. There was a lot going on, lots of vendors, sponsor displays, music performers, paddles, life-jackets and enthusiastic competitors. We couldn’t miss the opportunity to capture some of this. The weather cooperated and provided us with a really cool sky to complement the chaos of the festival. It did start raining towards the end, but that’s what a local Starbucks is for, to go and hide with a nice drink in your hand. Here are some of the shots from the festival!

Jan Shim - Did you know that Dragon Boat Festival or Dumpling Festival is now officially a public holiday in China? It’s good that the Chinese government recognize this tradition. Too bad we don’t get Dragon Boat races here only crowds of people hanging out at the beach on dumpling festival. So, once a year the beat in my town is especially crowded.
