So are you guys married?
Just incase you skipped the “about us” page, yes we are! We were one of those 08/08/08 couples.
Jason: I figured it was a good date so that I could remember our wedding anniversary a lot easier! also apparently in Chinese culture it was meant to be lucky?!?!
So what gear do you use? Canon or Nikon?
Well actually right now both. Jason shoots with the Nikon D3s and Lena is rocking the Canon 5D Mark II. With Jason being a gear junky, we have a whole host of Pro grade lenses. For the Canon side, we rock the 50mm f1.2, 70-200 f2.8 L IS, 24-105 F4 IS, and 100 f2.8 Macro for those awesome ring shots! Our Nikon lenses include the legendary 24-70 F2.8, the new 70-200 2.8 VR2, and the trusty 50mm AFS 1.4. Since we absolutely love our lighting, we have a number of Canon 580 EX II’s and Nikon SB900′s to boot. For off camera lighting, we use Elinchrom Skyports for triggering, and have just started to test out some YongNuo RF602 wireless triggers as well. Eventually the idea for us is to move completely to Nikon though as we do find the AutoFocus to be significantly better on their bodies (although right now we are still ever so attached to that 50mm f1.2!!).
What is your style?
Hopefully you have taken a browse through our portfolio and blog to get a feel of our style. To sum things up, since we both shoot our events/sessions and we both have different perspectives on things, we often find we end up resulting with a diverse style that incorporates a mixture of contemporarily posed, creative and candid photography. One thing that we do have in common is our love for off camera lighting. This allows us to add drama to the scene and capture those impressively looking clouds and skylines. One other thing you won’t find us doing however, is the use of heavy post processing (such as vintage, cross processed, etc). We like to keep processing to a minimum and keep things clean, vibrant and crisp! Just like how it was meant to be captured! Rather we look for settings with colours, textures, and other cool things to make a great image!
We both like to work in a very relaxed and casual setting but most of all, we simply love to have fun with our clients. If you are looking for something more traditionally posed and old fashioned, then there are plenty of other photographers out there that would perhaps suit you better.
Why should we hire you? Can’t I just get some cheap photographer off Craigslist to shoot my wedding for $200?
Well the truth of the matter is… you can! But will you be happy with the final result? Yes, technology has made it ever so easy for a average Joe to become a “Pro” photographer these days. Keep in mind that your wedding day is one of the most important days in your life. Wouldn’t you want to ensure it is memorable with some great photos? Your Craigslist photographer may save you a few bucks now, but will they be able to produce a level of quality that you can truly be happy with years down the track? We pride ourselves in being passionate about photography but most of all, we want YOUR photos to be the talk amongst your Facebook friends!
Are you guys insured?
YES! You can never know when something might go wrong on your wedding day, however we are covered for $2 million commercial general liability as well as for all our gear. Make sure to check with your photographer to see if they are covered as well, as you never know if someone is going to trip over a light stand and burn down the venue!
How much for a wedding?
Weddings greatly differ. Your typical 8 hr traditional western wedding requirements are quite different compared to a 14 hr Chinese wedding with tea ceremony, which again differs to a 3 day East Indian wedding. We suggest the best thing for potential clients is to contact us so we can have a quick chat over the phone to gain a better understanding of what you require for your wedding photography coverage and then from there we can provide you with a more accurate quote tailored to your specific needs. Simply fill out our contact form or give us a call! (Jason – 778.883.3554 Lena – 604.765.0066)
Ok so we like what we see, can we meet up with you guys?
Of course you can! We’d more than love to meet face to face over a cup of coffee or even a drink and some appies, so we can get to know each other better, and also give you the chance to fire off any additional questions you might have. As mentioned above, fill out the contact form with your details, or give us a call!
What should we wear to our session?
Honestly, anything that you are comfortable in! Keep in mind that your photos are about you, and not necessarily about what you wear! With that said, there are some things to avoid in general such as contrasty busy pattern, stripes, and logos (since these date quickly!).
