Vanya was born on July 9th very early in the morning, or very late at night, whichever way you want to look at it. His proud parents are my sister Katya and my brother-in-law Russ. They make a beautiful little family!! I am very very happy for them and their little bundle of joy.

I cannot wait to watch him grow into an awesome soccer player Congratulation Katya and Russ, you both did great!!!

I had the honour of photographing little Vanya a few minutes after he was born! We also did a few newborn shots the day after. Here are the results, enjoy!!

Sheila, Richard, Kristin met us at Cates Park in North Vancouver and off we went chasing Kristin around the park!

Kristin has made an appearance on our blog before, you can check out here baby photos here. This time around she’s a year older and oh so much cuter!! This little girl is sure to be a future heart-breaker!!

We had a wonderful time capturing her little smiles as she explored the park. We found out that flowers apparently taste great, as do sea shells and rocks! We also had a bit of astronaut training with Kristin which I think was by far her favourite thing to do today!!

Kate, Curt and their adorable 2-year-old William met us at one of their favourite parks on the North Shore. Cates Park provides a lot of different backdrops, it’s totally an awesome place to photograph.

This beautiful little family is soon to get a little bigger, but at the moment William is definitely their little ray of sunshine! We walked all over the park, found some crabs, poked a few starfish, picked pretty flowers, and of course to top the walk off we ended up at the playground and William got to go on his favourite swing as a reward for being such a great sport smiling for the camera!!

The planets seemed to have aligned the day we met Michelle and Zach. Walking down the street towards downtown Perth we heard someone yelling at us, and we looked across the street and there was Michelle waving at us from her car. Jason and Michelle have been friends from way back in high school, but haven’t seen each other in years. Michelle calls Indonesia her home, and as we all know Jason’s home is now The Great White North, haha, i.e. Canada! It was pure coincidence that we all were at the right place, at the right time! Michelle has seen our photos, and there was no surprise that she booked us for a family photosession right there and then.

The next morning we set off to her house to take what seems to be the cutest photos ever! Zach is a total smiler, charmer and a future heart-breaker, not to mention he’s a really fast crawler! We had an amazing time running after him and capturing his beautiful little smiles. I absolutely adore his little baby teeth!!

Thank you Michelle and Zachary for capturing your memories!! Thank you for a really fun afternoon and lunch at Milk and Honey, it was delicious!

We had grand plans to go snowshowing, since it is winter and all and there’s supposed to be snow on the mountains. But we were quite disappointed when we called the local mountains to inquire about snow conditions. There were no conditions, cause there was no snow! hehe I’m just quietly laughing to myself about the snow situation, Winter Olympics are about to start and we have spring temperatures and a bunch of mud on the mountains. Oh well, not my problem really.

Back to our grand plans, we decided that it’d be just as fun to gather up the car full of animals and head to Buntzen Lake for a short little hike. There car was filled with 8 legs, 5 lunches (one extra for good measures), a bunch of water bottles, 12 paws and 3 wagging tails!

First we let the dogs loose in the gated park at the lake, Razor being a crazy water dog swam circles in the water just for fun, he also learned a few new games from a few rambunctious dogs. Gina was going a little nuts trying to get me to throw rocks for her in the water. And Altai being the most mellow out of all the dogs just wandered around and said Hi to all the dogs.

Then we hiked to the other side of the lake, and this is where all the real fun began! Jelena and Graeme had a bright idea to try to make Razor jump off the dock into the water. Poor Razor didn’t know what he was in for! This is how it all went down:

1. Get Razor excited about fetching a stick.

2. Make Razor run after the stick without realizing that there’s an edge to the dock!

3. Laugh really hard once Razor falls in! (Check out Jelena’s head-roll-from-laughing-too-hard!)

4. Poor Razor didn’t know what hit him, and he frantically tries to get back onto the dock. And of course he’s got no leverage, so Jelena goes in for the save, falls on her butt in the process, and gets totally soaked!

After all that, it apparently wasn’t enough, so Graeme goes for attempt #2. But this time Razor isn’t that stupid, and he stops in time to just look at the stick and totally ignore it.

After all the water fun is over, Altai and I play a little tug-of-war. That little bugger is super strong, look at him snapping those twigs!  

Razor joins in the fun! I’ve got nothing against 3 dogs, they beat me pretty quickly.

This concludes our fun on the beach! We headed off back to the car, and we were all pooped! The dogs slept like little babies on the way back home, and we had a nice little nap when we got home too.

Let this be my blog entry #1 since technically this is the first week of the New Year! Happy New Year to everyone!!! We are off on a road-trip to Nelson, BC, stay tuned next week for some photos from our trip!! But for know here are some very cute photos of baby Kyle!

Project Objective: post a blog once a week! This will add up to 52 blogs in the 2010, doable, right? I’m actually going to start a little early and give myself a head start today

With Blog # 0 I wanted to celebrate the little furry people in my life, so here I present to you Altai and Gina!

Altai, aka Altai-Maltai is my parents’ dog, but I’m not afraid to say that he loves me the most! Although given the choice he always go with mama This guy is a little ray of sunshine, I kid you not when I say that 95% of strangers walking by smile when they see him. He’s just so funny…looking!! And 99% of people that wonder what breed he is ask if he’s a ‘mini sheep dog.’ He may look like a mini sheep dog, and the breeders say he’s a Shih Tzu/Poodle/Cocker Spaniel, we like to think that he’s a Tibetan Terrier!! Although a city dog, he was born for the mountains. This little guy loves to hike, swim, play in the snow, and do everything a city dog won’t do.

Altai is a big teddy bear that will shower you with kisses if you let him! He wouldn’t hurt a fly, although he will run after birds (but he’ll never catch one cause he’s slow :p), and he had a thing for kids when he was younger, but he’s learned that he ain’t allowed to tackle them unless the kids tackle him first!

Altai turned 2 years old on December 20th. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! That makes him 14 in human years, and here I finally present to you a photo of our smiling teenage boy! (He also graced our blog earlier, check out his photo here)

Now, the title of the blog doesn’t just say “Altai-Maltai,” it has Gina-Mashina in it too! Gina is Altai’s bestest buddy. She’s the neighbours’ dog, and she comes out for walks with us all the time. Gina is a very shy little girl, she only plays with Altai, and avoids most other dogs, she’s also scared of anything that moves (Altai, on the other hand, plays with anything that moves, just the other day he ran a racoon up the tree, I was scared to death of what could have happened if the racoon decided to retaliate!) Gina is also a strange mix of breeds, she’s got the grace and the curls from a poodle, and she’s got the mean snarl from a schnauzer, you don’t want to mess with this dog when she’s not in a good mood. But she’s pretty mellow most of the time and you hardly even notice her in the dark, cause she blends in with the ground. Gina is an awesome friend for Altai, she sure does keep him and us entertained! Gina’s got this stylish red coat, and it provides hours of entertainment for Altai who keeps trying to take it off, and he has succeeded a number of times already! Oh teenage boys!! Taking clothes off girls!!
